What does acupuncture feels like?

Although everyone’s experience is unique, most patients find acupuncture treatments to be comfortable and relaxing. After a treatment, some people feel energized, while others may wish to go home and rest. Many notice an improvement in symptoms immediately or in the days following a treatment.

How should I prepare for a treatment?

  • Wear comfortable, loose fitting pants and shirt that can be rolled up to the elbows and knees.
  • Make sure that you have eaten at least 30 minutes before your treatment.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise or activity before or after treatment.
  • Avoid eating heavily just before and after treatment.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol or coffee and smoking before and after.

What can I expect during an acupuncture treatment?

The first treatment consists of a discussion your current health concerns and a thorough medical history review, followed by the acupuncture treatment.  The initial session may take up to 1 ½ hours, while subsequent visits are one hour. Treatments may also include the use of other Chinese Medicine modalities, if necessary.

What type of needles do you use?

Thin, flexible needles that are sterile and disposable are used at all times.

How much do treatments cost?

Treatments are $70.  Herbal formulas are additional.
